	<title>Good Carbs</title>
	<description>
Good Carbs make our body's feel "good" and help in providing an essential part of the building blocks of healthy nutrition. The debate rages on with respect to categorizing our favorite carbs . The differences can seem overwhelming if you are not educated on what constitutes good carbs and bad carbs.

From early times, man depended on energy to help his body perform the daily tasks necessary for survival. His energy reserves came in the form of nuts, berries and other natural sources. To maintain energy levels, early man was required to spend much of his time searching for his dietary needs. Today, things are much different. Our next meal is just a drive-thru window away and doesn't require much imagination.

As our lives have become more and more sedentary, our "energy" needs have changed. And, since good carbs provide the type of energy that is beneficial, it is imperative for the weight and health conscious person to make themselves aware of the right choices. While it is sometimes misleading to label foods as "bad", it is also essential to understand that the quantity and quality of any nutritional choice is important.

An easy way to choose good carbs is to think of things in terms of the example we used before. Think of natural choices they may have had during early times. Fresh fruits and vegetables are a good place to start, and, while some of these "natural" choices contain higher levels of carbs, they are still a better choice than other foods that may be tempting. Don't forget about nutritional content such as vitamins and minerals when you look for the good carbs, and, also consider the pitfalls of prepackaged choices.

For the average person who is looking to fill their diet with good carbs, the produce section in your local supermarket is the best place to start. Remember, the closer to the earth, the better the choice.
