Low Carb Diet Plans

Most low carb diet plans, if followed correctly, help people lose a lot of weight in just a little time. But low carb diet plans aren't as popular as they used to be.

Why Low Carb Diets are Losing Popularity
There are a number of reasons that low carb diet plans are losing popularity. When reading an article like this, you might expect us to tell you that it's due to some kind of health risk. While it's true that there are a lot of health risks associated with low carb diet plans, that's rarely the reason people stop. We all know that smoking is probably the worst thing you can do to your body, yet people continue to smoke. In fact, many foods--if eaten in excess--can be harmful to your health in one way or another. Yet, we continue to eat them. We have addictive personalities in this country. And an addiction to carbs is one reason why most people can't stick with their low carb diets.

But low carb diet plans aren't all bad. The reason many of us are overweight is the fact that we eat more carbs than our bodies need. We only need 130 grams of carbs a day, yet if you counted the number of carbs you eat daily for a week or so, you might be surprised. We can make it really simple:

Stay away from anything made with white flour or refined sugar
Limit your intake of starchy vegetables (like potatoes)
Eat more fruits and vegetables (especially really fiberous ones)
Eat more whole grain and whole wheat products

It might be hard for you to do these things if you're used to lots of sugary sodas and snacks, chips, crackers, etc., but you might also find that substituting nuts or fresh cut fruit for chips, whole wheat bread for white, whole wheat pasta for regular, etc. is easier than you think. The world of whole grains, fruits and vegetables is better (and tastier) than you might think.
