	<description>
What's helpful when you're counting carbs? A carbcounter!

Different Varieties of Carb Counters
It might not be convenient for you to carry a book with carb counts for every food with you everywhere you go, but if you find a good one, and you want your low carb diet to work, it can be a valuable tool. Sure, you could use online carb counters, but it takes a lot of time to find a good one, and then they're so picky about the way you enter information that it becomes a very time consuming task.

You could also use the information on food labels to get an accurate carb count, but what if you want an apple or some other food that doesn't have a nutrition information label? You'll need some other way to count your carbs. If you visit www.carbs.com you can find a variety of carb counters--in book form and in calculator form. And that's the easiest way to keep track of your carbs. After a few months of counting carbs, you're going to be pretty proficient at it. You'll know offhand how many carbs are in a tortilla or any number of fruits, vegetables and cheeses. You'll definitely know the carb counts of your favorite foods, and you'll amass quite a collection of low carb recipes. You'll have your routine down pat, but then you might hit a plateau. What do you do then?

Exercise and Carbs
You have a couple of options when you hit a plateau with your weight loss on a low carb diet. You can go back to what you did the first two weeks of your diet (before you reintroduced some healthy carbs into your diet) or you can somehow summon up enough energy to start exercising. For all the benefits you might be getting from your low carb diet, an abundance of energy isn't one of them. However, consider this: The first 20 minutes of any cardiovascular exercise burns carbs. After that, you start burning fat. But people on a low carb diet don't have a lot of carbs to burn, so their bodies' fat-burning component kicks in a lot sooner in the workout. That should be all the motivation you need!

Finally, don't fret. Once you have mastered the basics of the carb options and resources available, it is easy to make better carb choices in your daily routines. Ultimately, it will become like second nature and require less and less preparedness on your part.
